Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the
HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper dependencies
are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro
supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball
has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode
will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

Check types:
a. EXTERNALDEP - External Dependencies
b. GENERALDEP - General Dependencies (required both at compile and run time)

Is it a network printer?
If so can you ping it's IP ok?

This is a wireless printer.
Installed also in 2 Linux machines (setup and ping is there OK, but after a restart: no ping anymore)
Also installed on a Win7 machine: everything is fine and works.
The printer has an e-mail-address and can be accessed this way.

In Ubuntu, i can see him in the possible network connections.
In the setup he is found with maximum receiving, but in step 3 it goes wrong: he is not found (see hp-setup).
Ping=NOK
For me, that is the contradiction: ububtu sees him, but, jou can not ping him.

Have you tried restarting the router, the reboot the printer. You can then retry

SOLVED.

In short, the situation: 2 dualboot computers:
PC1 Win7 + Linux (Linux 17 Qiana Cinnamon 64bit)
PC2 Linux + Ubuntu (Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64bit)

In the Linux machines the wireless-setup of this printer succeeds, but after a restart of the computer, he is not seen anymore.
Therefore i tried in Ubuntu: and here the setup ends in an error = not installed.
Note that all works fine in Win7 wireless.
The printer can wireless be accessed via his email-address.

The problem is the same with or without firewall.
All programs are up to date.

Same for Linux and Ubuntu:
during Installation with HPLIP 3.15.2 the setup finds the printer with full amplitude.
Only at that moment the printer works.
In Linux:
After a while, or after a system restart nothing goes.
Even a ping in the terminal says: host unreachable.
Altough: the wireless printer, together with other sources, at that moment is visible in the available connectiontable to connect the computer to internet.

Conclusion: in one program the system sees him, in hplip not.

Each time i do a again complete setup, it is the same.
In Linux, after a restart: no ping to the printer.
In Linux, in the HP Device Manager:
-sometimes after a great number of manual refreshes, i could see all the possible actions,
-and sometimes it worked a little bit faster by first starting Xsane from the system menu, naturally this ends with an error, but afterwards, sometimes the refresh in the HP Device Manager worked than immediately,
-but most of the times, it was impossible.

All these tests where with a dynamic IP-address in the printer.
I changed it into a static IP-address and now it works.
Because the worst thing that can happen with dynamic IP-addresses, is a restart of the router!

It put me on this way because i had the same difficultus connecting the 2 computers together, it only works with a static IP-address.

By the way, on the Win7 platform:
After i changed the printers IP-address into static (completely other IP), it was not nessesary to run software, the software discovered itself that the printer had a new IP-address.
I do'nt know if this is thanks to Win7 or HP software.
