Which version of Ubuntu are you using and how do you intend to connect it. Many HP printers just install them selves automatically if plugged in Via USB. At least in 10.04 and later

I use Ubuntu 11.10. The system doesnt have HP P1108 listed but I've been able to install it using the HPLIP toolbox
