Need help booting a LiveUSB from Grub Rescue

Asked by Daniel

So my system crashed and I'm stuck in grub rescue. I have a USB with ubuntu still installed, and another laptop with Windows 8 in case I need anything else. But my laptop is stuck in grub rescue mode, and I need to know if there are any commands I can punch in to get it to boot from the USB so I can hopefully just re-install Ubuntu?

I'm new to the OS and Linux in general, so I'm not quite sure how to handle this.

OmgUbuntu has a guide called "sticking it to Grub"

You can chroot from Ubuntu live USB and reinstate Grub from a chroot. You can also fsck the Linux partition(s) to make sure they are consistent.

Can you help with this problem?
