GC 2.2.1 - Is it possible to import QIF files into existing accounts, rather than into a new account of their own?

I have tried to find the answer to this question from Google, but I can't see it anywhere.
I used to use MS Money and would download the month's transaction data in QIF format. I would then open MS Money and import that month's transactions into the Cheque account that I had set up. MS Money would then go through, identify possible duplicates, guess which categories the expenses were and ask the user to make any necessary changes before lumping them into that Cheque account with the rest of the transactions.
In Gnucash 2.2.1, it seems that when I import a QIF file, it adds itself as a completely new account.
Is there any way to import a list of transactions from a QIF file into an existing account?
