Perhaps GnuCash would do what you need (http://gnucash.org/). In Ubuntu, GnuCash is provided by the package gnucash, which can be installed in the Software Center.

eekboek - Bookkeeping software for small and medium-size businesses

Also, expanding the search terms yields some other interesting results, such as:

$ apt-cache search ledger
eekboek - Bookkeeping software for small and medium-size businesses
frontaccounting - web-based double-entry accounting and ERP program
knowledgeroot - web-based knowledgebase system
ledger - command-line double-entry accounting program
sql-ledger - A web based double-entry accounting program
tryton-modules-account - Tryton Application Platform (Financial and Accounting Module)

FrontAccounting looks particularly interesting, if you need full ERP. You can check out some screenshots here:

    http://frontaccounting.com/

The only one I've personally used is GnuCash, though, so you may have to experiment a bit to see which one fits your needs best.
