new to ubuntu and just loaded 8.10 and can't access my USBs.

Newbie here...ubuntu 8.10 was loaded successfully, but i cannot access any of my USB's. i'm new to ubuntu and still learning. any assistance to resolve this would be much appreciated.

Hi,

When you say you can't access to any of your USB's, you mean your USB Flash Drives?

yes...if i plug any devices into my PC's usb connections, nautilus isn't
detecting any new hardware/device.

Are you able to mount your USB drive?
For mounting try:
sudo mkdir /mnt/yourdir
sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/yourdir
cd /mnt/yourdir
ls

If this does not work, try posting output of "mount" command and "dmesg" command as well.
