How to bring back the panels

I was dowloading proprietary drivers so that i can get unity, and after i restart. the top and bottom panels were gone. i don't know what happened and what to do next. im only running on failsafe low graphics mode. please help

gconftool --recursive-unset /apps/panel && killall gnome-panel
