"Model: TL-WR840N(EU) ver.6.20
300mbps Wireless N Router"
Make and model of the router are rather irrelevant.

The much more important question is:
Which WLAN adapter is inside your computer?

The wireless troubleshooting procedure should reveal that and several other facts that are needed to help.

If your system is mobile (a Laptop_) then connect to the wired part of your router and get full updates. You can also run:

sudo lshw -C network; lsb_release -a; uname -a; sudo rfkill list

And give the full output as an update on

Repeating the request from the first comment:
Please follow https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WirelessTroubleshootingProcedure

It is not possible to help without the diagnostic information provided by that action.

When and where do you receive the "no wifi adapter found error" message?

This is in contradiction to several other messages (e.g. output of iwconfig) that indicate that the WLAN device has been found.
