Do I need gnome-keyring-manager?

A couple of gnome applications save personal data inside the gnome keyring. Network Manager stores WLAN Keys, gajim account data, etc... It doesn't hurt to keep the keyring manager, since it's only activ, when applications need or read a key...

This package is listed under "local or obsolete". Has it been superseded by something else?

I just upgraded to Ubuntu 8.10. Now when I start an ssh session from a terminal prompt a dialogue box prompts me with:

Enter login password to unlock keyring:
Your keyring was not automatically unlocked when you logged into this computer.

All I have to do is close the dialog and then ssh works. I do not have to enter a password and when I try to it just reposts the dialogue box again.

How can I stop this annoying dialogue box from ever popping up. I tried to find documentation about how the keyring manager works and what the keyrings are used for etc. I was not successful.

Any help would be appreciated.
