how do I crop (size) a picture?

Asked by Davy

I want to crop (size) pictures in my pictures files so I can print them out to fit the size picture frames I have on hand at home. Examples: 8 X 11 1/2, 5 X 7, etc.

sudo apt-get install imagemagick

You can now use the vast array of commands in imagemagick to resize the images:

You can use GIMP to scale your images to the desired size. How to here: http://docs.gimp.org/2.6/en/gimp-tool-scale.html

You can find GIMP under Applications --> Graphics.

Good luck.

If you are doing many, gimp will be slow, command line can do thousands of images in one command automagically rather than manual effort on each image

Can you help with this problem?
