What is happening with the development of GIMP?

I have looked on the GIMP wiki, the roadmap has not been updated since 2013: http://wiki.gimp.org/wiki/Roadmap And no sign of any of those new releases, and the upcoming release (2.8.16) on the main page still hasn't been released: http://wiki.gimp.org/wiki/Main_Page And I even remember reading somewhere that it said about the next release being scheduled for somewhere in 2014, or early 2014, but I can't find the page now...

So basically my question is, is GIMP still being developed? Will there be a next release? Because it seems untouched for years...
