desktop icons

how do I remove unwanted icons from desktop screen?It's a video player that popped up from nowhere!

Hi,

If it's a launcher, it should be enough with right click > move to trash.
But if it's not always present, it might be some device you plug in or something like a cdrom you have inserted. What does the icon text say?

Sorry, I still can't help you.
Perhaps a description of what you do before the icon appears would help.
And you can upload a screenshot to http://imagebin.ca/ too.

Alright if you see icons that are just there, right click on them and
if its a external device, then it should say unmount or something
similar. Other than that the rest are your desktop icons, just delete
them if you want to.
