Asked by davepaul

error: Dependency is not satisfiable: libpango 1.0-0

This is the error I recieved when trying to install Adobe's Flash Player plugin v10 for firefox 3 beta 5, using ubuntus package installer.

I get similar errors and refusals from ubuntu claiming i dont have admin or superuser rights when it was me who installed ubuntu on this machine and i am the only user and i only have one password!

Hi,

Please follow the instructions here to first enable the universe, multiverse and "Canonical partner" repositories in Ubuntu:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories/Ubuntu

Then please follow this procedure:

Step 1: Open Terminal from "Applications->Accessories->
Terminal"

Step 2: Run the following commands (copy/paste each command into the Terminal and then hit <enter>)

sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude install -f
sudo aptitude dist-upgrade
sudo aptitude install adobe-flashplugin

Step 3: Close all instances of Firefox. Restart Firefox and try to play a Flash movie.

Regards,

Mark

Thanks Mark for your help.
Before you replied I had re-installed Ubuntu and then went by your instructions.
so not sure if it was your procedure or the re-install that fixed evrything! :-)
I bit of both perhaps?

Is Linux going to learn from MS and make simple graphical wizards for everything for us non- geeks?
This command line and techno stuff is a pain. Now I cant figure out how to set up Evolution Mail!
I have an on-line account at Live.co.uk and a pop account with my cable ISP provider.
Why don't authors make their software with simple auto setup preferences?

I'll check out the FAQs when I have the time.

Thanks again
Dave

Hi Dave,

If this Flash Player issue is solved, can you please set this thread to status "solved" and open a new thread for your other Linux issues? Each thread should contain a single issue. It will cause confusion if you combine several issues into a single thread.

Thanks,

Mark
