wifi se desconecta al estar la laptop inactiva

Al dejar el laptop sin actividad por varios minutos (creo 15 minutos o más), sin que la misma entre en estado de suspensión, el wifi no vuelve a conectar (al menos a mi red wifi wep), se queda buscando la red pero no vuelve a conectar. He tratado de suspenderla y volverla a "reanimar" pero no vuelve a conectar al wifi, sólo me dio resultado reiniciando.
Ubuntu 9.04 jaunty jackalope, desktop.

Después de la incatividad espero vuelva normalmente al trabajo.
Después de inactividad no vuelve a conectar el wifi, se queda esperando 'tratando de conectar'.
