This is a question rather than a bug. You have a couple of options for this. You can always check out the Medibuntu project and look at getting MPlayer, or my recommendation is (assuming you are in the Gnome environment), go to Add/Remove Programs. There is a series of packages beginning with Gstreamer which can be used with Totem. I am not sure which package you need, as I have them all loaded. Perhaps someone can tell you specifically which one(s) you need.

reinstall the packages and try.

sudo apt-get --reinstall install flashplugin-nonfree lib32nss-mdns

Make sure that libflashsupport isn't installed.

Bhavani,

Thanks for that response. I reinstalled the applications and libraries, but the problem persists. It is an unusual problem as the only time the browser locks up is when youtube videos use any caching server from googlevideo.com - all other videos perform properly.

Bhavani,

Yes, the problem persists - I'm not sure if it's a FF/Flash problem, as I had no issues on youtube videos until they started linking to {cache.server.}googlevideo.com. I'm assuming there may be some java issues with google, as it is only videos that link to googlevideo that cause the crash. I only experience the problem on Linux based OS.

You could enable Intrepid Security updates and upgrade to 3.0.7 and see if it fixes your problem. There should be a newer version of the flash player in there as well.

I had a problem with FF freezing with youtube. I went to system/administration/synaptic package manager and did a search for 'flash'. I completely removed anything associated with flash then rebooted. I then went to a youtube page and when prompted, installed the flash plugin. I then closed FF and reopened it. Now youtube plays again. Hope that helps.
