gnome application menu does not list Firefox

Asked by Albert Zeyer

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

I have a fresh Ubuntu install and I reused the home directory of another Gentoo installation.

The main gnome application does not list Firefox in the Internet submenu. I also didn't find it anywhere else. Even in the menueditor, it is not listed.

Can you try with a new user profile?

It's there in a new user profile.

Though that doesn't help me much, I need it at my default profile.

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#When%20not%20to%20file%20a%20bug.

Try deleting ~/.local/share/applications and ~/.config/menus. This will delete your custom menu settings and should restore the launchers. You might need to reload the panel (log out and back in again for it to take effect)
