Firefox flash player in Ubuntu not detected

Asked by PeterDz

Running FFX over 10.04 with up to date fixes/downloads (as of a few hours ago!).

I have been trying to watch programme on (for example) http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbctwo/

when I attempt to download any of several shows I get the same issue: it tells me that it can't find flashplayer (specifically the latest release) even though it is installed. It looks like FFX isn't signalling that Flash is installed properly. Checks with Synaptic etc confirm that it is installed.

This has been an issue that has been raised several times in the past and was believed sorted, however.....What is the current situation on detection of Flash by FFX? has it actually been fixed? I am not filing this as a bug just yet...

Marco,

Slight variations required - and a restart needed - but it now plays from the same site so I guess that that is solved. I would simply stress to others in this predicament that after re-installation of "flashplugin-nonfree" a restart may be required.

Thanks,

Peter
