restore .fbw file from Windows using Linux?

I am trying to restore/recover a large 35 GB .fbw file that is the backup for all my Vista Home Premium Edition files, but now I'm using Linux 10.04. When I try to get Linux to open my old files by clicking on Backup.1.exe, I get the following error message from archive manager:

 "End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not
  a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the
  latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
  the last disk(s) of this archive."

OR when I click on the other file Backup.2.fbw I get:

"Could not display "/media/FreeAgent GoFlex Driv...011-10-15 215743/Backup.2.fbw. This file is of an unknown type."

I am not proficient with the terminal. If someone decides to help me, please keep that in mind. I tried to look around a bit online for a solution, and one of the last things I found I couldn't really understand what it was telling me. I went to the following link http://sourceforge.net/projects/p7zip/files/p7zip/9.20.1/p7zip_9.20.1_x86_linux_bin.tar.bz2 and tried to read the Read Me file of the p7zip, but I really couldn't follow it; I didn't really know what I was doing.
