F-spot: Trying to find the best way to transfer images from one computer or another or from a back up.

Asked by boballen55

I've done a fresh install on a computer and I saved the F-spot archive on an external HD and re-imported the images onto the fresh install. I had F-Spot set to saving the tag info on the images. This saved the tag names on the images but lost the icon information and it no longer remembered parent tag information, all tags were equal. Also I had hoped that the images that had been modified would be imported properly under the "modified" title as opposed to the "original" in the left side info box but that is not the case. All images are listed as orginal with modified ones just having the "31 (modified).jpeg" names. Is there anyway to get better results on these issues? Or are any of these things goal for future releases. I can imagine a backup utility inside F-Spot that could make these things happen.

Also, is there a better place for me to be posting this? I started on the F-Spot home page and ended up here on what seems to be a more generic Ubuntu questions page...

I also have many time stamps that have changed. It is related to that crazy bug I attached to this question. That shouldn't be such a problem, they could just not have F-Spot change anything until they make the re-dating glitch free...

I have a similar problem, tho' seems to be worse, in upgrading from Hardy Heron to Lucid Lynx on the same computer, new partition. I must be missing something about the upgrade process. I tried "Exporting" tagged sets of images from 8.04 to files on the previous partition, and then tried "Importing" set by set into the 10.04 environment. The 8.04 F-Spot had as many as 5 different tags on individual pics, but I couldn't figure out a way to get them to add the subsequent tags to the pics from earlier transfers.

Can you help with this problem?
