Right click on the icon and choose "open with..." instead of "open"

I'm pretty sure that gstreamer supports musepack. You could try installing gstreamer and a gstreamer frontend, such as Totem, and the appropriate gstreamer codec package.

I have installed the gstreamer, frontend totem and gstreamer codec and still not successful, i even tried a project viewer by Afinion and the result is still the same. Could you identify what may be may be the problem and secondly could you help clarify what application I should use to view microsoft project files with extension .mpp

Don't know about the recent versions but I believe .mpp files used to be just text files, so try to open it with your preferred text editor.

Unable to open with any editor, the file contains graphical display of
development charts with a number of levels. is there an application in open
source that can open and view this?

My bad, I thought you were talking about microsoft visual project.
The only one I'm aware of is openproj:

http://openproj.org/

It is still in beta so expect a number of bugs and missing features.
Unfortunately there is still no .deb available, even though one should be coming soon:

Can you help with this problem?
