Migrating from Mint 17.3 to Debian 8.8/Jessie with eCryptFS partition

Asked by Damon Getsman

I'm currently in the process of migrating from Mint 17.3 to Debian 8.8/Jessie. I'm really hoping that I'm not going to have to go through some horrible data juggling procedure with the 2TB encrypted partition that I've got on one of the drives. Here's what I've got from the version strings of the package ecryptfs from my Mint system: 104-0ubuntu1.14.04.4 & the packages listing for Debian Jessie: 103-5+deb8u1.

Could anybody tell me offhand if there's some sort of migration procedure that I'll have to go through in order to keep my data accessible from the Debian system? Or even a pointer to some information that may hold the answer that I'm looking for... I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you much in advance!

Mint and Debian are not supported here. This is Ubuntu support only. Your setup has nothing to do with Ubuntu. I suggest you post on the Mint forum here:

Can you help with this problem?
