Cannot manualy run "dpkg --configure -a"

The Synaptic Pkg Manager errors out and tells me to manually run the "dpkg --configure -a". When I manually run the command I get told there is no space left on device. How do I get out of this loop? All the result of the latest update.

clear your browser cache. Also run:

sudo apt-get clean

Will help lots. Can you give the output of:

df -h

I recommend you also remove old kernels and unused apps. Also remove ubuntu-docs will free up 250Mb alone. If you only use writer in open office I suggest you remove the suite and install abiword which will save a further 250Mb. A stock install of Ubuntu is extremely bloated. You can trim it down very easily to something more sensible.
