Can't enable desktop effects.

Asked by Mr. MInhaj

i installed ubuntu 9.04. My graphics card is built in Intel GMA 950.
when i tried desktop effects from "System>Preference>Appearance>Visual effects" then it says that "desktop effects can not be enabled" .Compiz fusion icon and compiz config settings manager is installed in my system.
I tried "glxgears" in terminal and the gears run smoothly, so it seems 3d acceleration is enabled.

Look here:

It's a known bug those Intel grafics are slow in 9.04 (not in the versions before!)... therefore Compiz is blacklisted.

You should install official Intel drivers for your video adapter first. Go to intel.com and look for the appropriate version for Linux. Or you could find an equal open-source solution in repositories.

Hi... I have the same problem with my Toshiba L200, but after
- upgrading compiz to version 1.0.8.2
- installing fusion icon + emerald
the desktop effects work normally

I just added in startup application with command "compiz"

I am new ubuntu user, so I dont know how it can work....
