Enabled desktop cube rotation creates a unclickable vertical pixel line on left/right screen edges

Asked by Corben

I had a problem for a while now, where in the game Dead Island Riptide Definitive Edition sometimes my mouse clicks are ignored.
When I move the view direction with the mouse a bit, its working again. It got pretty annoying as this issues occurred of course mostly in tense situations.
Now we started to play Insurgency and this game has the same issue. I can't left or right click in some situations.

These two are the only games where I realized this so far. Games like Left 4 Dead 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Counter-Strike: Source and many other don't have this issue.

I figured out that this happens, when the desktop cursor is at the left or right screen edge. Even on the desktop I couldn't left or right-click, when the mouse is completely at the screen edge.

I realized today, that this one "dead" pixel line is there only when the desktop cube has rotation enabled. When I disable the rotation or use the desktop wall, the issue is gone. I have no problems ingame and can also left or right-click on the desktop.

I'd like to use the desktop cube though, as I'm used to it since Ubuntu 6.06.

Now I don't know where to post this or ask for a solution. Looks like game devs can do things so this doesn't happen, but I guess it could also be changed in the compiz package. As this behavior also occurs on the desktop the compiz package is probably a right place.
