I wish to burn iso image to usb hdd but bersario will not let me change directories

select a disk to write to

There is no 'burning' you only burn CD. The USB storage is a magnetic media so the data simply needs transferring.

You can use unetbootin to transfer data from ISO to USB.

I wish to make a ISO of a DVD. I wish to store this ISO on my usb HDD, as my internal HDD has not enought room left

Then you can use dd to make the image of the DVD

something like:

sudo dd if=/dev/dvd of=~/dvdcopy.iso

I assume there is no copy protection on the disk.
