Does not launch application. "apport" not found

Asked by xermán

Hello there:

Trying to report a QCad bug i was launching "apport". The isues were:

- Launching "apport-gtk" from the applications menu produces nothing. No apport, nothing.
- executing "apport" from terminal produces "command not found" response.

Synaptic shows apport and apport-gtk are both installed.

Computer is running 804x86 updated from 710x86. This is not the only bug i am experiencing too.

Please ask for any further info you may need to help solve the problem.

Regards
Xerman

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs .

Hi,

If you wish to report an Apport generated crash report to Launchpad, you can use the following steps:

1. Use your file browser to navigate to the /var/crash directory
2. Double click on the ".crash" report file that you wish to submit. This will open apport-gtk and allow you to report the bug.

Thanks
