How to Submit Bug-Report-Attachments to an Existing Bug Report You Didn't Create (automatically)

Asked by Lonnie Lee Best

The ubuntu-bug package allows you to create a new bug on lanchpad, and automatically uploads all the relevant file attachments to launch pad.

This automation of producing the bug report and attaching the correct attachments only works if you have a brand new bug.

How do you automate this for an existing bug? In other words, how can I attached these same files to an existing bug (in launchpad.net) in a fashion that is as automated as "for a new bug"?

I just found this:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Adding_Apport_Debug_Information_to_an_Existing_Launchpad_Bug

I tried using the apport-collect, but it appears that you can only submit this data to a bug that you originally created yourself.

Isn't it helpful to submit this information to bugs that were created by someone else? If so, by what method can this process be automated?

Ok, I figured it out.

You must be fully subscribed (in launchpad) to the existing bug you will apport-collect to; I believe my problem was that I was only partially subscribed (to only received notification when the bug was "fixed").

After I upgraded my "subscription" to received all notifications, the apport-collect command posted my information to the bug successfully.
