kubuntu karmic amarok silent

Kubuntu 9.10 beta
Amarok runs and loads collection, but plays most mp3 files very fast and silent. Some other mp3 files play ok and ogg files are ok. All these files played ok with Kubuntu 9.04 Amarok and with Kubuntu 9.10 mplayer.

ok - just discovered that Amarok is recommending additional software is installed, and this appears to fix the problem.
Sorry about that, but this could trip up lots of people.
