after beta install - only shows "local collection", cannot click or view tracks or anything!

Asked by winter123

Unusual situation. I just recently installed kubuntu 9.4 and of course amarok 2 comes with it and works perfectly. Scanned my entire collection and it showed a list of all artists on the left. But i wanted to try the latest beta so i followed the instructions on the amarok site and the installing finished, but opening it up... it shows a folder "Local Collection" but i cannot click it, rescanning collection does nothing, unclicking my music folder from the scanned disks then scan, does nothing, neither does uninstalling from package manager and reinstalling. The opening screen changed from the "get ready to amarok" or whatever to blurry cars or something so I feel like it did upgrade, but the about says its 2.0.9. is that 2.1 beta or no?

The only real issue is that I cannot view a list of my artists. I managed to play things from an earlier playlist with 8 tracks but I cannot see all my artists/albums/songs etc.

Help?????????

Hello,

Maybe deleting Amarok config and yor profile files will help?

They are located in your home directory .kde/share/apps/amarok/ and .kde/share/config (you will find some config files in text format here - Don't delete the whole directory)

I had this problem too after upgrading 2.1.1mysql5.1.30-0ubuntu1~jaunty1 to 2.2 beta 1. I tried removing config files and folders, but local collaction still doesn't display anything. git version has this problem as well. Should we add a bug report?

I managed to have a working collection support. It was due to mysql packages in Jaunty; I had to build mysql by myself, then I recompiled Amarok.

Can you help with this problem?
