Noise while playing an *.ogg file

Asked by Basic

I want to play some standard *.ogg file. Instead of some melodies I hear terrible noise, like the one when don't have a signal in analog TV.

Hi,

I am afraid it is unlikely that you might get any useful answer if you don't precise:
* The version of Ubuntu
* Which software you are using to open the file
* Whether you can plan other .ogg files properly (does it happen only with one file? With a bunch of files but not all?)
* Whether you can plan other file format (.wav or .mp3) properly.

1) Ubuntu 8.10, which was automatically upgraded to 9.04
2) I do this in system settings (button "Preview" or "Play" or something like that...
3) No *.ogg files are properly played
4) Other formats of video and/or audio work perfect

Hi :)

First try to fix all your multimedia issues by running through all the steps in
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu
i tend to stick with non-free components as they don't seem to cost me anything but i hope to free myself one day and go completely OpenSource ;)

If that hasn't helped then hopefully something early in one of these 2 guides might help

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshooting

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)
