Installing flashplayer on ubuntu 8 Hardy

Asked by Philip Marks

I have a toshiba netbook 100 loaded with ubuntu 8.04 Hardy , with mozilla firefox 2 ?? and what I think is adobe Flashplayer plug -in installer 9.01 ???? whatever any of that means to anyone who understands these things. Every time I try to install new flashplayer update from youtube and MSN it just fails to install I have been trying for 6 months. Also my update manager suggests installing new release 10.04.3 LTS which it consistently 'fails to get'. Anybody any ideas that don't involve a 4 pound hammer? Philip

Hardy is not supported on the desktop, it is only supported on the server.

I suggest you download the Precise ISO, MD5 test it and install it clean (remove Hardy). You will then have the latest packages and have full support for 5 years.

Hey, Philip.

I suggest you to download the most recently Ubuntu version at ubuntu.com and install it, after format your hard drive.

After that, install Flash-Aid plugin on Firefox and follow the steps to install the Flash Player correctly. This plugin will provide the most recommended version of Flash to your computer.
