I can't locate my previous question and have new info

My previous question was: I tried to install Ubuntu on my friend's Acer laptop. It partitioned the requested space, BUT, marked it "Unusable"...I don't know what to do.

My additional info is this ...I have since tried again..this time using your Alternate cd...still no luck!

I also did additional research and found almost the same question by someone else...but no answer..It is at this site;
