Upgrade from 7.10 to 8. 0.4. LTS

Asked by peter

Hi

I've a question regarding the UBUNTU Upgrade from 7.10 to 8.0.4 LTS.

In the UBUNTU Relsease notes the following is written: The minimum memory requirement for Ubuntu 8.04 is 384MB of memory for desktop CDs, and 256MB for other installation methods.

What does the notion "desktop CD's" mean? Will the upgrade write a CD and then I've to install from this CD?

Thanks for your answer.
Peter

No, release notes are for "classic installation" and that means, you need at least 384MB RAM to run install CD (resp. 256 MB to run text-based install CD).

Thanks. But what do you mean with to run install CD?

I guess, my system needs 384MB of RAM and I can forget the notion CD. RighT? Thanks.

If you are running upgrade via Update Manager, this is nothing for you -- these release notes are for people doing normal installation...
