Download pictures from a Canon 10D in Version 8.04

Asked by Jessh

I upgraded my Ubuntu to v 8.04 from an earlier version, I believe it was 6 something. I WAS able to download pictures from my Canon EOS10D camera into this earlier version but when I attach this camera to v8.04 there is no recognition that the camera is attached.. (Camera is set in same way as when I downloaded it to the earlier version & I CAN download this camera onto Windows XP Pro. which I have as a dual boot on my PC)
Thanks for enlightenment, Jessh

Hello,
For ubuntu 8.04 you have to install f-spot package.
sudo apt-get install f-spot

Thanks Nizar Kerkeni for your answer to my Canon 10D loading problem.

I didn't make my question clear enough though, Ubuntu 8.04 DOESN'T RESPOND AT ALL, ie, recognize that I plugged something in when I connect the camera. Ubuntu DOES
respond, recognize, when I connect a flash drive into that same USB port.

Any other ideas? thanks again

Thanks Nizar Kerkeni for your answer to my Canon 10D loading problem.

I didn't make my question clear enough though, Ubuntu DOESN'T RESPOND AT ALL, ie, recognize that I plugged something in when I connect the camera. And, I have F-spot already installed.

Ubuntu DOES respond, recognize, when I connect a flash drive into that same USB port.

Any other ideas? hanks again, Jess

is your camera support the PTP mode ?
try this mode before plugging your camera.
What's the result of lsusb command before and after plugging your camera ?

Can you help with this problem?
