Suspend / Hibernate not working on ASUS P4P800-deluxe

Asked by Wyatt Smith

Hello

I would really like to get suspend working. Currently this is what happens when I activate suspend.
The screen goes black. The hard drive shuts downs. Then a second later, the hard drive comes back on and the screen lights up with the password dialog. Basically, its seems like it suspends and then immediately resumes.

I´m running Hardy 8.04 32bit (2.6.24-16) with proprietary ATI 8.4 drivers on a machine with P4P800-deluxe MB and Radeon 9800-PRO video card.

Hopefully there is a solution for this - is this a kernel problem, ATI problem, acpi-issue? In the forums I´ve read that some people had suspend working fine till they upgraded. Any insight would be helpful.

Make sure all the hardware drivers are properly installed and are working or disable it completely. this worked for me on my acer laptop.

Thanks for the input guys. It allowed me to explorer this issue in greater detail. I was finally able to get my system into S3 sleep state. I don´t know if this is really a solution or just a work around.

I found this BUG report relating to P4P800 motherboard,
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/75497

I set the USB jumpers to +5VSB and changed BIOS setting to suspend to S3 only.
