Asked by Somnath

Hi,
I have recently got Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Desktop Edition. Before that I was using Windows Vista Home Premium Edition.I want to create a dual boot system. When I tried to install Ubuntu inside Windows during rebooting in Ubuntu It is asking to specify the system root file. Also, during booting from CD during installalation it is asking to specify the partition disk.I want to ask if I need to have an empty partition of disk to install. Can you please tell me the procedure to install Ubuntu as a second OS.

Thank you.

Hi!
all u need is a dos free partition.
first create a dos free partition using vista through computer management.
then boot from the cd, ubuntu will automatically search for dos free portion of ur hard disk and then proceed as per command.
