Problem booting up

Asked by Loco585

I uninstalled some applications using the system> administration> synaptic package manager. When I was done uninstalling, administration was no more there under system menu. But when I tried to start my computer latter, it only starts in DOS format. I tried booting up from cd rom, it only starts in DOS again. What file or files did I accidentally delete when I uninstalled applications, and what should I do to reinstall the necessary files for the UBUNTU to run normally?
