that's just weird.

Are you burning the ISO as an image? or are you copying the entire ISO file on to the disk?

if you have nero on you windows system that will burn it, look for the Burn image to disc. look for the file that you saved and burn it. boot for the disc, make sure your computer is set to boot form the cd/dvd first, then install it.

Nero isn't free - you can use infrarecorder which is

http://infrarecorder.sourceforge.net/

If the image doesn't fit onto the cd then there is a problem with it - check the md5sum for the downloaded file - these 2 pages help with that

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuHashes

This will help with the burning

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto

If you do have a problem with your donwloaded file, you will need to get it again, if you have a torrent client like utorrent I would download it with that as it gets checked for errors as it downloads - you can get the torrent from here - they are at the bottom of the page

http://releases.ubuntu.com/8.04/

Hope that helps
