8.04 ACPI: Critical trip point auto shutdown

Asked by IanG

Hi,

I have this niggling problem since upgrading from Feisty in that I often get a critical temperature warning beep between 68 and 71 deg before an automatic shutdown is performed.

I've taken a look at the logs and the message relating to this is:

May 27 20:55:56 ubuntu kernel: [ 671.215459] ACPI: Critical trip point
May 27 20:55:56 ubuntu kernel: [ 671.219373] ACPI: Unable to turn cooling device [f7c4c420] 'on'
May 27 20:56:03 ubuntu kernel: [ 677.950407] ip6_tables: (C) 2000-2006 Netfilter Core Team
May 27 20:56:05 ubuntu exiting on signal 15

I've tried to issue a bug report but don;t know which package this really relates to and whther we are actually talking an ACPI problem or something related.

Thanks in advance

Ian
