Lightscribe installation

Asked by GeoPage

I have downloaded from HP, the deb lightscribe program and cannot install it.
When I attempt to open the package manager I get the following failure message.

E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

I have saved the lightscribe file and when I attempt to run it I am told that I cannot have more than one manager running at a time, yet can 't seem to turn one off.

The name of the lightscribe file is: lightscribe-1.12,33,2-linux-2.6-intel.deb

I am looking for some help. Please keep in mind that I am quite new to Linux.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

George

Hi,

Open a terminal and type;

sudo dpkg --configure -a

Then, try to install lightscribe again;

sudo dpkg -i lightscribe-1.12,33,2-linux-2.6-intel.deb

Cheers,

*Leandro,
Success!!!
Following your instructions it installed. No problem. However, now I can't
find the darn program. I've gone through the applications list several times
without finding a trace of it.
Any ideas.
Thanks for your help.
All the best,
George

I think that this will do it. My first attempt was not successful and I have to leave for now. However, I feel that I'm on the track.
Thank you very much for the help.
So far I love Linux
