your pci slot is one of these your usb port ?
did you add the usb port to your computer
im not sure how to tell you to proceed im really a noob in this
all i can say is your initial output shows the camera so im not sure exactly whats going wrong
the reason i ask about your usb port is if i run the command in my terminal it will show my usb connections talking to the
rest of the computer such as your oss sound or alsa in hal or your "hard drive"
if youve added the hardware since you installed ubuntu you may have to reboot for it toreally read it sorry i dont know more to help
peace=]

my webcam is a microdia how i see, i search for the microdia drivers
git clone http://
cd microdia
make
now doing this:
root@fation-
insmod: can't read './mocrodia.ko': No such file or directory
root@fation-
the last step because at the website they tell that this is the last step after i have to di the "dmesg" and read and the job is done, but is this root@fation-
insmod: can't read './mocrodia.ko': No such file or directory
root@fation-
the last problem
:(
the /microdia.ko already exists in the dir /microdia
but it's not ./microdia.ko is just microdia.ko

if youve started in sudo it will register as such
the same applies for aptitude verses apt
once you start down this road you need to follow the trail back home
su or sudo will work but if you started your super user as anothe authourized agent thats who you are
password or not
sudo aptitude-get
or sudo apt-get
or su apt-get
or su aptitude-get
???????
you will need to import the tar for the archive to be recognized
try sourceforge or similar web link for backup data
peace

Come on, that's not actually solving the problem! ;-)
I think you probably had the solution right in front of you.
I'll give you some background info:
> git clone http://
> cd microdia
> make
>
> now doing this:
> root@fation-
> insmod: can't read './microdia.ko': No such file or directory
>
> the /microdia.ko already exists in the dir /microdia
> but it's not ./microdia.ko is just microdia.ko
1) First take a look at the prompt: root@fation-
It says that you are "root" on computer "fation-desktop" and your current folder is "~".
"~" is short for "your home folder", or in this case "/root/".
If you would change the directory, e.g. with:
cd /etc
the prompt would reflect this change: root@fation-
If you would be logged in as user "fation" instead of as root, the prompt would be:
fation@
Notice: for a user other than root, the prompt ends on "$" instead of "#". This so you see you are root and pay attention to what you do (as root, you can do all sorts nasty of things, such as delete all files on the system. So you should always be careful as root).
Also notice: In this case, "~" is the home folder of user "fation", or: "/home/fation/".
(for regular users (i.e. not root), the home folders are subfolders of /home)
2) Look at the command you issue: root@fation-
"insmod" means: "insert module",
"micordia.ko" is the module (i.e. the file) that you are insmodding,
and "./" is the path to that module (i.e. where you say that insmod should look for the file).
And "." stands for "the current directory".
So if you issue: "root@fation-
As there is no file micordia.ko in the home folder of the root, it says "insmod: can't read 'microdia.ko': No such file or directory"
So you should do:
root@fation-
or:
root@fation-
depending on where you compiled the module.
Hope this helps.
Greetings,
Johan
