GRUB installation

Asked by aznmhc

My GRUB always stops at 94% no matter what I do. When I get into BIOS these are my options-(Main):BIOS Version, Machine Name, Serial Number, UUID, System Memory, Hard Drive Disk, System Date and System Time. (Advanced):External Drive Boot, and Network Boot. (Security):Machine Password, User Password, Set Machine Password, Set User Password, and Password when power on. (Boot): Boot Priority Order and Excluded from boot order. (Exit): Exit Setup, Get Dafault Values, Discard Changes, Save Changes, and Shutdown.

Words in parentheses are TABS and after the colon is the list under that tab. Hope this is enough information.

I am currently trying to install Ubuntu 7.10 on a second partition for my harddrive. The C drive is occupied with Vista Home Premium. I booted from the Ubuntu Live Cd and I got to the process were I was about to install it. But once the installation progress was about 94%, it stops and tell me that GRUB has failed to install. Error (hd0,1) and that it is a fatal error. Someone with knowledge with this problem. Please help. Thank you.

I think, may be, some kind of Bios boot sector protection, check your BIOS and disable it.

Hope this helps
