Unable to get 1024x768 working
Hi, I just installed Ubuntu 7.10 and I have been unable to get 1024x768 working properly. 800x600 works fine. 640x480 is also fuzzy. When I switch to 1024x768, I get a 1" black bar on the right side of my screen, about 1" of missing screen space on the left side and the entire screen is fuzzy/flickering. I have looked through all documentation I could find online with no luck. IRC was no help either, they just referred me to things that I already knew. I'm hoping that by centralizing all efforts in one place, that a solution will be reached quicker :D
Hardware:
Compaq Evo N800c laptop w/ built in 14" LCD
ATI Mobility 7500
Max res is 1024x768. This works on Windows and worked on the last Linux distro I put on here (Gentoo ~2 years ago).
I have tried dpkg-reconfigure server-xorg with medium settings. The auto-detected settings give me the above problems.
I have *NO* idea what the correct hsync/vref settings are for my screen. I have checked google/all manuals/etc.
Please help! If you need any more info, please post and I will update ASAP.
