Before try to install new driver you can post the result of the command line:

lspci

To do it you open a shell and write the command. Copy the result.

I don't suppose you should worry about this unknown device type and capabilities, half of my hardware is unknown also, yet i'm writting this.

Maybe check ALSA pages, they have a lot of info on such things (not very well-structured unfortunately ;)

You'll probably have to play with /etc/asound.conf (same ~/.asoundrc). Hopefully somebody can help you further.
