Can't uninstall the program that was downloaded to my computer from the CD

So you have ubuntu in a dual boot and want to remove ubuntu?

Please can you let us know where you got the Ubuntu Cd from? What is the name of the book? It appears that you have got a modified version that is not proper Ubuntu.

The one you have appears to be based on very ancient packages so it's not surprising that you don't like it. I have never even heard of "bishop-desktop".

However, i think we can use the Cd to get rid of the modified Ubuntu from your system but it would be better if you could download the proper one from
http://www.ubuntulinux.org/
If 800Mb is too much to download don't worry, we will try to use the Cd you already have. Please let us know if you can boot up the machine from the Cd to a menu with the top option "Try Ubuntu without making changes to this machine"? This option should get you to a demo version of the modified Ubuntu that we can use usefully so please let us know if you can get to the LiveCd desktop

It is unclear whether you can still boot into Windows or does Windows appear to have vanished? If Windows appears to have vanished then please use the LiveCd only, at least until we can work out what is going on. If Windows really has gone then we can try to help you with Data Recovery but if the hard-drive gets used then that becomes increasingly unlikely. Usually we can use the LiveCd to avoid using the hard-drive and usually we find that we can access Windows data from there.

Also it is unclear exactly what outcome you want from this. Ubuntu is an "operating system", it is not just a program. It appears that you have non-Ubuntu programs installed in Ubuntu.

So do you want to get rid of Ubuntu totally or just a program that is inside Ubuntu?

I get the feeling (despite your impeccable English) that you might be more comfortable asking the question in a different language. Please do try using a language you feel more comfortable with. Ubuntu has a lot of translators and people living all over the world so hopefully someone would be able to answer you better that way. I hope this helps

Well i want to uninstall it and i can't becuase I don't use that computer much and I got it from a book called"Hacking The Art of Exploitation 2nd Edition"so please help me

There are options here. You can make the machine automatically boot into Windows so that no-one else knows you have Ubuntu installed on the machine. This way would allow you to boot into Ubuntu but only you would know how to do that. The big menu offering a choice of "Ubuntu or Windows" would be hidden. If that sounds like a better option then please let us know and don't follow the plan that follows

1st boot into Windows. Get to their command-line, something like
"Start" button - "All Programs" - Accessories - "System Tools"
look for a tiny "MS DOS" icon with a name such as "Cmdprmt". Onto their command-line type

fixmbr

and press enter. Now when the machine boots up it should boot straight into Windows.

2nd step. Please boot up using the Cd and choose the top option "Try Ubuntu without making changes to this machine"

This should get you to a working Ubuntu desktop. Please get to a linux command-line from the top taskbar
Applications - Accessories - Terminal
and copy&paste into here the results of this command

sudo fdisk -l

where "-l" is a lower-case "-L".

3rd step. From the LiveCd Ubuntu desktop go up to the top taskbar and click on
System - Administration - "Partition Editor"
to open GPartEd. Now right-click on the "linux" partitions and "Umount" them or do "Swap Off" and then right-click to delete.

4th step. If the Windows is NOT Vista then you can resize the Windows partition from here. If the machine uses Vista then boot into Windows to do the resizing from inside "Control Panel" - "Management Services"

If you do not often have access to the machine then it might be a good idea to check that you know how to get into a LiveCd session on a different machine so that when you get to the target machine you know what to do already. "Practice makes perfect". Please let us know if that is an option.
