I want to open Ubuntu Gujarati (gu) Translators Group

Hi Purvesh,

thanks for contacting us with the willing to open a team for Gujarati.
Before we can accept the team into the Ubuntu Translators group on
Launchpad, there are some actions that need to be taken. You can take
a look at this page for all the necessary information on what you have
to do to create the new team, and what are the Ubuntu Translators
policies for new teams:

On Launchpad there are some people that are already translating into
Gujarati, and also a Linux Mint translators team:

Maybe you can contact them and see if they are interested in helping

Also, GNOME upstream has a Gujarati translation team. It would be
great to contact them too:

Hi Purvesh,

You cannot start translating Ubuntu into Gujarati until the team has been appointed for translation.

I'd recommend you following the instructions Milo sent you when you first requested the creation of the team, especially the steps for getting it appointed:

Once you've done that, if you can reply to this thread telling us briefly how you've addressed each point, we'll be happy to appoint the Gujarati team, so that you can start translating Ubuntu.

I need some Support for creating better Group to be recognize for Managing ubuntu gujarati(gu) translation, even i had done 25% ubuntu loco Gujarati(gu) translation but also want to Translate Ubuntu translations to Gujarati.

Hi Purvesh,

as David said a couple of messages back, before you can start
translating Ubuntu into Gujarati, we need to appoint the team to the
Ubuntu Translators group.

To do that we need to check that all the points listed here:

at the "Before you apply" section are met.

I'm going through all of them, and in case I find something that is
not clear, I'll ask you some more information.

* Check for an existing team: DONE. There are other people translating
into Gujarati, but for Ubuntu your team is the first.
* Locale, keyboard, and fonts: I think it is DONE, can you confirm me
this one? I see that GNOME already has a Gujarati team, so I imagine
that keyboard layout and fonts are available.
* Launchpad team: DONE.
* Moderated subscription: DONE, it is restricted.
* Team information: I see you have a long paragraph on your team page,
with a small description of your team. Personally, I would write about
the team only: what is the purpose of the team, leaving instructions
on how to translate to a wiki page. What is missing are links to wiki
pages or other communication channels. You should create a wiki page
for you team (on wiki.ubuntu.com if your LoCo team doesn't have a
wiki) with more specific information, and you should say on the
Launchpad page how to join the team (or at least write that in the
wiki page).
* Team communication: I see you set up the Launchapd mailing list. It
would be better to use an @lists.ubuntu.com mailing list, since only
the people approved in your team can join a Launchpad mailing list.
Mailing lists should be as open as possible. To have an Ubuntu mailing
list, you can file a request after the team has been accepted. Is it
OK for you to have an Ubuntu mailing list?
* Guidelines: do you have guidelines on how people should translated
into Gujarati? Not how to use Launchpad or external tools, but
guidelines about the terminology to use, the approved terminology,
glossaries, etc... This can be set up after the team has been
approved, but it is very important to have. If there are already
guidelines from an upstream team, it is advised to use those
guidelines, and in case work with upstream to updated them.
* Upstream collaboration: are you aware of the GNOME Gujarati team?
Are you in that team too? Are you planning on taking contact with them
to cooperate with them? This is very important: cooperation with our
upstreams. You should also link the upstream Gujarati teams in you a
wiki page, so that other Gujarati translators can know about them.
* Coordinator: DONE, I think you'll be that. Please state that in a
wiki page, and when you team is approved, please update this wiki page
too: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Translations/Contact/Teams

Basically, when your team is approved, follow the last paragraph
("After the team has been accepted") of this page:

First Thanx a lot Milo Casagrande for giving me time and this much Detail, Thanx David Planella you had also given me details but m bit noob, now i got some more info this Detail will helpful to me.

* Yes Gnome have Gujarati team i know that and they also have keyboard layout and fonts, even i also have gujarati(gu) font so i can also attach at wiki page https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Ubuntu-Gujarati-Translators/ where i had given Gujarati Font and Keyboard Layout and more detail i ll add in some days.

* I am Happy to apply @lists.ubuntu.com mailing list after accepting my team.

* Guidelines: I also add Guideline detail at wiki page after approving my team.

* Upstream collaboration: I know about Gnome Gujarati translation team and i have no any issue to cooperate with them and i'm not in that team but shortly i'll apply for that also and how to link them at my wiki page should i have to add their page url or something else?

If any Mistake or i didn't understand something then tell me and please don't mind i am new to this Procedure.

These are very important!

Yes, a link to the upstream Gujarati team page will be OK. Also, you
could maybe add some info on what are the differences between upstream
and downstream. In the wiki page, if you want, you can write in your
own language (if the wiki supports it and has fonts support for it).

Personally, on the Launchpad page, I will tend to be more concise,
like give a simple explanation of what the team is supposed to be
doing, and then link to the wiki page that should have more detailed
information. Take a look at the Italian and Catalan Launchpad page:

You can also write in your own language there.

For me it's OK, I think that refinements to those pages can be made as
the team grows. But I would like to hear what others UTC member say
about it. If we don't get an answer in 4 days, I'm going to add your
team to the Ubuntu Translator teams.

Remember to add (it's OK to do that also after approval) information
about upstream translation projects (like GNOME, KDE, and the
Translation Project), and the guidelines that your translators need to
follow.

"Looking at your team page at https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-l10n-gu it seems you already have a mailing list within Launchpad for this team. Is there any reason why the existing mailing list doesn't meet your needs? Do you have a specific need for a list @ubuntu.com?"

and i had tried for "Contact data. Add the team's contact data to the global translation teams list"
but when i click on global translation link i didn't got any way to add my team detail.

i had sent announcement mail also at here : <email address hidden>.

You should tell them that is our policy to have an @lists.ubuntu.com
mailing list for all approved translation teams. Also, if you only use
the Launchpad provided mailing list, only your approved member will be
able to subscribe, since Launchpad mailing lists work this way, and
this is something that shouldn't happen since you want that all the
people (approved translators or not) can subscribe.

Can you point me to the link you are using to set up things? I don't
really get what is the problem here.
