How to import Firefox translations previously exported from Launchpad?

Asked by Fran Diéguez

After export Firefox translation from Launchpad to review purpouses you can't import again giving and error that isn't a zip file. So what's the procedure to import that?
I think Launchpad doesn't have implemented the firefox's pofiles import so this have to be achieved manually.

Reopening it, we just haven't had the chance to look at it yet.

Reopening it again, haven't had the chance to look into it, then.

For the reference, Fran told me some time ago he had already been in touch with the Galician Mozilla upstream folks and they said they'd include the fixes from Ubuntu in the next version.

This is just about cleaning up the documentation at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Translations/TranslationLifecycle#Mozilla%20applications and coming up with a procedure that permits manually creating an .xpi file that can be sent upstream.

Yes,

I've talked to Mozilla translators and they'll import the translations from our fixes but at Ubuntu Galician Translators we want to make the version that comes with Lucid takes all this fixes too.

May be the problem is:

Is it possible (there is any single way..., someone has ever success in...) to reload (upload) in Launchpad any previous downloaded launchpad Firefox po translation ?

(if yes)
Who ? When ? Where is the queue log "successfully imported" ?
Can we get (and see the form of) the original xpi having that success ?
After having the po with 5000 sentences translated ...
Can you give any essential detail of procedure transforming in xpi ? Long or Hard, only for programmers ? Or Easy ?

(if not)
Ok, no way, stop here. No further try or attempt.

Answering this question will help everyone can attempt to do the same upload ...
wasting his time in trying translating off-line: Really there is only on-line (very long) way ?

Thanks.

Some time ago I had some time to document the XPIPO to XPI conversion, it is here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Translations/KnowledgeBase/Firefox

For your particular case, you might want to try to export the translation from Launchpad, convert it to XPI and then upload it again. Do note that this might not work, and you'll be doing this at your own risk.

You can follow the procedure outlined here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Translations/KnowledgeBase/Firefox and then try to upload the resulting .xpi file as "Imported translation".

Can you help with this problem?
