Support for linux{-ports} PPA to build on regular buildds vs virtual buildds

Asked by Michael Casadevall

I was wondering if it is possible to have a PPA for the linux-ports daily build that runs on the normal builds vs. the virtual PPA builders. As the linux-ports kernel is for architectures that aren't x86-based, we've been unable to have a daily build run, and I'd like this to change if possible. I do know that there have been some work on P3A PPAs, maybe something like that would be possible ...

HI Michael,

In fact, virtualisation support and privacy are orthogonal concepts in the PPA model. We can provide the four possible combinations:

 * public PPAs building on virtual builders (default);
 * public PPAs building on non-virtual builders (what you want);
 * private PPAs building on virtual builders;
 * private PPAs building on non-virtual builders.

However, anything that could possibly affect the ubuntu (non-virtual) buildfarm has to be discussed with the distro-team. So, I'd appreciate if you can drag their attention to your request.
