PPA upload hangs with 1K to go on huge uploads

Uploading to my-ppa (via ftp to ppa.launchpad.net):
  linux_2.6.24.2-1.dsc: done.
  linux_2.6.24.2.orig.tar.gz: 57700k/57701k"

That's pasted from the terminal. It's pretty much self-explanatory.

I've left it for a very long time, and tried it twice. Both times, I had to hit Ctrl + C.

I don't understand why it would stop at the same spot each time.

It has happened before and it's very likely to be a problem on your connection side. Could you, please, check if you can ftp the same 57 MiB orig somewhere else ?

Also, you know that if you orig is the same already published in ubuntu, you don't need to upload it again, right ?

I'm converting it to a question, since there is nothing indicating that the any code is broken.

How would I not upload it again? I'm simply using the commands that I found in the scanty documentation. I never actually specified anywhere that I wanted to upload the orig file. I just pointed the command at the .changes file, and everything else happens automatically with no explanation.

I don't even see why I'm uploading source code at all. All I want to do is share the DEB of lrzip that I've made. I'm now trying to build this new bit of code on the hunch that it will provide the dependency I need (based on a comment on the last bug that I filed).

I'm just jumping through the hoops that are set in front of me, hoping I'll be allowed to share my DEB at some point.

P.S. It has got stuck with 1K to go for the third time.

A similar problem was reported on the lp-users ML [https://lists.launchpad.net/launchpad-users/msg05032.html].

Anyone have an idea on how to fix this problem?
I'm experiencing the same right now. The file transfer hangs with 1 KB to go:

   Uploading wine1.3-winepulse_1.3.11-0ubuntu1~lucidppa1.tar.gz: 80647k/80648k

I've tried four times now.

The file uploads fine to this test ftp: ftp://ftptest1.tele.dk/pub/upload

Hi Rune.

You should ask your own question instead of commenting in someone else's question because the conversation is directed to find an answer to the first question.

Our questions are the same, so I sort of figured it'd be pointless to post my own question.

If you read the bug you'll see that there's a workaround,

Thank you Julian! I'm not sure how I managed to overlook that bug report...

(for others reading this question, the workaround is to use SFTP, instead of regular FTP, to upload: https://help.launchpad.net/Packaging/PPA/Uploading#Uploading%20with%20SFTP)

Can you help with this problem?
