Klingon plural expression is this: Plural-Forms: nplurals=2; plural=n > 1

I'm just curious. As Klingon is a language invented by English-speaking people, I would have expected it to have the same plural expression. So I'd just like to check back if you are sure about this.

English is nplurals=2; plural = n != 1
Example:
 0 files
 1 file
 2 files

The expression you are proposing would produce this example:
 0 file
 1 file
 2 files

Is that correct?

That's an unfounded expectation. Klingon was designed to be *different* in many ways from natural languages. It was invented by a linguist who intentionally picked exotic or unusual features, and who was careful not to make it act too much like any particular language he was familiar with. What happens in English is basically irrelevant to what happens in Klingon.

Even if the "zero is grammatically plural" feature were universal among natural languages, is says nothing about whether or not Klingon has that feature. And since explicitly marking something as plural is optional in Klingon, "0 file" is perfectly fine in any case. So is "2 file", for that matter.

Wow, didn't know there was that much purpose and expertise involved when the language was created. I always thought it had evolved from a "mock language" to the full-blown language it is today. Thanks for the heads-up! I updated the language entry.
